Writer, journalist, author and blogger
I am a freelance writer who specialises in education, healthcare, socialcare, and health and fitness. I also write about other subjects from parenting to payroll. National magazines and newspapers form a large part of my work but I also write for online publications. I live in Scotland but write about issues which affect all parts of the UK.
The list of publications I have written for is large, but to give you a small snapshot, here is a list of some of my clients: The Guardian; The Times; The Daily Mail; The Times Educational Supplement; Nursing Standard; Nursery World; Mental Health Today; Community Care; YoungMinds; Natural Health; Health and Fitness; BBC History Magazine; Scottish Field; Practical Parenting; and PHR. My work has also been published in Australia, Ireland and South Africa.
As you can see I like variety. Much of my work necessitates me having a thorough knowledge of the industry or sector I am writing about.
As well as feature writing I also take on corporate assignments, from writing press releases to providing copy for company literature. I am not averse to a challenge and love coming up with new ideas, researching, and then bringing everything together.
My first book Alzheimer's: The Essential Guide was published by Forward Press on 1 October 2009. My second book Grammar Made Easy was published in May 2011. Watch this space for the next book.
This website aims to act as a small window, providing an insight into what I do. But please feel free to get in touch should you be looking for a freelance writer. I am always happy to chat about potential projects.
